Mr Nhu’s vision = healthcare & data access : anytime, anywhere, by/for anybody. His vision for “Eye-AI” handheld device is, via the use of AI and Computer Vision, to democratize the screening process for Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)

Mr.Nhu is a technologist with a strong track record of bringing emerging technologies out of the lab and into production, with over 30 years of hands-on experience in chip design, DSP algorithms for multiple pioneering tech products in scientific, consumer & military applications, markets , having held senior R&D engineering and leadership positions for companies including Broadcom and HewlettPackard.

He holds an EE/CS undergraduate degree from California Polytech and a graduate degree from the University of Washington.

Mr. Nhu holds numerous patents in chip architecture , DSP algorithm designs for the processing of high speed video/audio/data signals as well as several patents on wireless healthcare signal processing & instrumentation

Betsy Nguyen, MD

Co-founder/President

Betsy Nguyen, MD is a board-certified cataract and glaucoma specialist with over 20 years of experience in her field. Trained at the prestigious, internationally recognized Jules Stein Eye Institute, at UCLA, Dr. Nguyen then became active in glaucoma research with the USC Doheny Eye Institute.

After earning her medical degree with the highest distinction at the top of her class from UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Nguyen went on to UCSF for her fellowship in glaucoma. A diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the California Academy of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, she was a team eye doctor for both the Los Angeles Angels and the Anaheim Ducks.

Dr. Betsy Nguyen is an ardent researcher, to further treatment options available for all, and has extensive expertise in managing glaucoma and cataracts together. These commonly concomitant conditions are best treated together—treating one and ignoring the other will result in long-term problems for patients. Dr. Nguyen uses the most advanced technologies available to combine the treatment in an integrated fashion, offering patients with cataracts and glaucoma the very latest in surgery and research.

Customizing care to every one of her patients, Dr. Nguyen remains passionate about what she does and spends quality time counseling each one. “I give every patient the same level of attention and surgical excellence I would give my own family.”

Dr Trinh Nhu

Trinh Nhu, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 27 years of expertise in her field. Dr. Nhu's practice encompasses cataract, eyelid, and glaucoma surgeries, in addition to comprehensive ophthalmology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern California, followed by her Medical Degree with AOA honors from the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. Her postgraduate training includes an internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Irvine.

In 1997, Dr. Nhu joined Lakewood Eye Physicians and Surgeons, also known as So Cal Eye Physicians and Surgeons, where she currently serves as a managing partner. Alongside her clinical practice, she holds the position of Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. Dr. Nhu is deeply committed to the advancement of ophthalmology, contributing to the field as both a principal investigator and sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials.

Dr Anthony Khuong Vo

Co-founder/Chief AI Scientist

Dr. Khuong Vo earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine. He has worked with leading companies such as Samsung, Edwards Lifesciences, and Becton, Dickinson & Co., focusing on AI-based medical technologies. His research encompasses Bayesian inference and deep generative AI, applied to biomedical signal processing and cognitive neuroscience. Dr. Vo holds multiple U.S. patents and has published scientific papers in prestigious conferences and journals, including NeuroImage, IEEE ICASSP, IEEE/ACM ISLPED, Computers in Biology and Medicine, and Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
